Unforgettable day in Sebastia in the West Bank, layering musakhan, talking to locals, enjoying nabulsi kunafa, beautiful landscape, Roman ruins, playing soccer, and riding camels. Thanks Fadi Kattan for a perfect day for Carnegie Mellon University students Carnegie Mellon University Dietrich College

On this Juneteenth, we remember Oliver Law, the first African American to command white soldiers in battle. Born to a formerly enslaved family in Matagorda, Texas, his grandfather John and great-grandfather Effer were less than 100 miles away from Galveston on June 19, 1865.
