Remain weather-aware today! ⛈️ Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain/flash flooding will be possible in parts of the central and southern Plains this afternoon into tonight.

Cooler than average temperatures for the Plains and large portions of the eastern U.S. through early this weekend go.usa.gov/cu3Wx

Heat to continue across the Southwest to South Texas and much of Florida, while building across the inland valleys of California go.usa.gov/cu3Wx

More active weather across the mid sections of the nation, with additional rounds of thunderstorms, heavy rains, flash flooding and severe weather go.usa.gov/cu3Wx

The heat is on next week as relatively warm temps spread across the Lower 48, per NOAA’s NWS Climate Prediction Center.

Precip: Relatively dry for a large part of the West into the Plains. Wetter for the WA Coast, Southern Plains, and parts of the Midwest and East.

Spotlight on the FL peninsula, which has missed out on much of the spring precip and is the only area w/ drought in the eastern US.

34% of FL is in #drought , including a small pocket of Severe Drought (D2) just added to the Gulf Coast.

IA: drought-free for the 1st time since June 2020.
