South Polar Skua west past the Bridges of Ross, Co. Clare yesterday evening at 17:23. Despite being convinced of the ID we ran it past KMullarney, DLVelasco and NTKeogh who were all in agreement with the ID. Picked up first by Ger Murray. 1st land based Irish record. BirdGuides
Another great day at Estaca, personal tally of 2 or 3 South Polars among the usual fare, plus this melanistic Corys Shearwater that caused some initial excitement!! Has to be strong possibility it is same bird from Scilly a month ago, with more advanced moult now Scilly Pelagics
