South Polar Skua west past the Bridges of Ross, Co. Clare yesterday evening at 17:23. Despite being convinced of the ID we ran it past KMullarney, DLVelasco and NTKeogh who were all in agreement with the ID. Picked up first by Ger Murray. 1st land based Irish record. BirdGuides

ESTACA DE BARES Ayer y hoy petrel antillano (P. hasitata). Va un video de ayer! -Ayer además 3 pardelas chicas, 2 Pterodroma, 44 págalos raberos, 2 fulmares. -Hoy además 1 piquero pardo (S. leucogaster), 1 Pterodroma, 2 págalos polares y 1 fulmar.

Hoy en Estaca de Bares 64 págalos raberos, 42 parásitos, 27 pomarinos, 8 págalos grandes, 2 "Skuamicki" (págalo grande/polar), 12 gaviotas de Sabine, 222 ostreros, 2674 pardelas pichonetas... Etc!!!

Another great day at Estaca, personal tally of 2 or 3 South Polars among the usual fare, plus this melanistic Corys Shearwater that caused some initial excitement!! Has to be strong possibility it is same bird from Scilly a month ago, with more advanced moult now Scilly Pelagics

From 23rd Aug to 4th sept I went with Nicolás Magdalena to Estaca de Bares, a magic place with incredible people. +2K LTS, 5 SPS, 6 barolos, 13 pterodroma, 77 ros terns, a common rosefinch and thousands of other seabirds. Here's the trip report: ebird.org/tripreport/272…
