2/3 Israels' settlement policy, including evictions and demolitions, is a grave breach of international humanitarian law. It fuels tensions and undermines prospects for a two-state solution.

3/3 The Bedouin communities require support from all stakeholders including the Palestinian Authority, civil society, and the international community to protect their presence and address their needs.

My condolences to the families of the humanitarian workers from World Central Kitchen who were killed in Gaza. World Central Kitchen is a partner in providing aid through the Cyprus maritime corridor. We await the results of the investigation.

The Netherlands welcomes the establishment of a new cabinet of the Palestinian Authority led by Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, who will also serve as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. 1/2

1/2 The EU 🇪🇺 and Member States came together yesterday for a Ramadan Iftar at the demolished home of Fakhri Abu Diab at al Bustan in occupied East Jerusalem to stand in solidarity with Abu Diab’s family.

2/2 Over a thousand have either lost their homes or were displaced by Israeli forces in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in the past few months in clear violation of international law.

1/2Today, the EU 🇪🇺 and like minded diplomats visited the Tent of Nations in Nahalin, who have been fighting for more than 30 years to register their land.

2/2 In the shadow of the war in Gaza roads are being blocked, they are being harassed and new outposts and roads are being built all around them, increasing Israeli pressure on the local population.

We also discussed the next steps given the great suffering of the Palestinian people. We need to work towards a two-state solution. I welcomed Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh د. محمد اشتية's decision to resign as prime minister, a courageous but also an important step towards a new government. 2/2

Good conversation with UN High Commissioner Volker Türk in Geneva. We spoke about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and I announced additional support for the OHCHR country office for the Palestinian Territories. 1/2

1/3 Dismayed by Israeli authorities demolition of Fakhri Abu Diab and his family’s home in Bustan/Silwan, East Jerusalem. Abu Diab has been active as the community spokesperson, speaking out against home demolitions.

2/3 Since 2010 residents in Bustan have engaged in negotiations with the Jerusalem Municipality on a building plan in order to prevent the demolition of 150 homes and the displacement of 1,550 residents.
