Huge amounts of water being held back at a very recent restoration site, re-wetting an area of degrading peatland dominated by bracken and brambles on Bodmin Moor

A few days later than a couple of other #Dartmoor woodlands I found the first male Pied flycatcher singing at Yarner Wood this morning - here are the long term observations of first males on the reserve for context:

This is important evidence, based on a field trial looking at the impact of Beaver in relation to flood risk Spains Hall Estate in Essex. The wetlands created by these creatures perform multiple valuable functions, including water storage at times of peak flow
