The lowest moment for me in academia is when I was a PHD student at UW-Madison post the 9-11-2001 terror attacks in the US. Muslim students would get pulled out of the classroom for 'processing' in Milwaukee. And my professors would continue teaching as if nothing had happened.

Universities, these bastions of higher learning, should not punish students for speaking out and ruin their futures. Across ideologies the one thing we should not do is teach our students the fear of speaking. But this is where we are in US politics.
