(1/2) With a heavy heart, I have written to the Prime Minister to tender my resignation as a whip. Whilst I will continue to support the government in delivering the change the country so desperately needs, I cannot vote in favour of the proposed reforms to disability benefits.

Following today’s vote, I am pleased to say my Private Members’ Bill has passed its Third Reading.

I fear the government is making a terrible mistake on the proposed PIP policy. I can’t unlearn 25 years lived experience. I hope by signing this reasoned amendment I will help persuade the government to pause the Universal Credit & PIP Bill & get it right.
