S2 classes have been busy this week creating interactive revision resources as we continue our topic on Vitamins & Minerals 👍🏻 📝

Following on from the pasta sauce the S3 class practiced last week, the class made Spaghetti Bolognaise & Garlic Bread today. The class also demonstrated their knowledge & understanding of the risks of cross contamination while working with raw meat 🥩 🤤 🧄 🧅 🫑 Proud teacher!

A big thank you to RNCI for bringing their countryside classrooms on wheels to school today. The S3 Health & Food Technology class enjoyed a hands on experience of the process involved in farm to fork and the importance of farming sustainability 🐑 🌾 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Working with raw meat, finely chopping all the veg 🍄 🫑 🧅 🍅 🥕 🧄creating the bolognaise & cheese sauce, then assembling in the right order. Lots to do today however all S3s successfully baked their lasagna & had all pots washed in time for the bell. Amazing effort👏🏻 💪🏻

Pupils enjoyed making Egg fried rice in the kitchen this week 🍳 🌽 🧅 & designing different shaped Pizza🍕 🌲 ⭐️

Some classes crafted a Swiss Roll this past week. An amazing 1st attempt in a single period!! Students have completed a self evaluation form of their skills to highlight areas of strength and set personal targets for next term 🍓 👏🏻

Wishing all the seniors the best of luck over the next couple of weeks with their Prelim exams! ⭐️ I am more than sure you will all do “Souper Duper” 🍅 🥣

Wow where did January go👩‍🍳 Prelims, class cooking & experimenting with ideas at home in preparation for next term classes… Chicken Kebabs, Carbonara, Mediterranean beef, Loaded fries, Meat sub, Pavlova, Custard Creams, Meringues, Rice dishes & Soups 🤤

Thank you so much HarlawParentCouncil & all the parents Harlaw Academy who supported the Christmas raffle. We received 25 Hand Mixers today 🎉 We can’t wait to use them with the pupils 👩‍🍳

This week some classes made Cheesecakes 🤤 great job everyone!

I have a pupil who has not been participating in practical lessons due to their confidence. I explained that if they tried to make the dish then I would post it on here tonight to show everyone how proud I am👏🏻 I am SO SO proud of you!! Well done!!

S1 classes have demonstrated their understanding of the importance of safety while using the grills. From the evidence of crumbs left in the kitchen, I doubt many learners had anything to take home, so here are some photos for parents to see their hard work 🧀

We’re grateful to have had Professor Wendy Russell from The Rowett Institute led a session on nature-based food solutions for our S3 Health and Food Technology pupils. Thank you for the invaluable support.

We had The Rowett Institute visit our school to support with the curriculum delivery for Home Economics. One of the activities completed by the pupils involved using tools and platforms to analyse meals and their nutritional values. Thank you Rowett Institute !
