I've read so many essays on pregnancy, SO many, that I started admiring them w/o really feeling much. You know how comics rarely laugh? Something like that happened. Dykema's brilliant, but I thought this was one more. Then the end hit, and absolutely leveled me.

Any person can see that ordering 1+ million people to move in under 24 hours is not possible. It is unacceptable. The UN has already deemed the order “impossible” without “devastating humanitarian consequences.” Humanity is at stake. Nearly half are children. We must halt this

I have been informed that I am being replaced as the Editor in Chief of eLife - the journal for retweeting a The Onion piece that calls out indifference to the lives of Palestinian civilians.

It’s past midnight, and I’m now on strike with hundreds of my best friends at L.A. Times Guild 🦅 in the first newsroom union work stoppage since the Los Angeles Times started printing in 1881. There’s no such thing as journalism without journalists.
