Dr Mark Purcell Westminster Abbey Cambridge University Library Hi Dr Mark Purcell ! This is actually the effigy of Buckingham’s mother. The effigy of Katherine & Buckingham is just around the corner in the Henry VII chapel where Katherine commissioned the family monument in the 1630s. I’d love to talk more about this & the exhibition w you!
James VI & I is depicted enthroned on the intricately detailed Rose Ryal of his 3rd English coinage (1619-1625). These coins were minted in very small numbers & were likely used for royal gift giving. From the collection of National Museums Scotland. #Numismatics
