This new UT Austin policy seems preposterously (if not unconstitutionally) overbroad. Anyone who is *arrested* for trespassing, but never charged (let alone convicted), is permanently barred from campus? What if the arrest was bogus? What if the arrestee is a student or employee?

NEW: UT Austin records show 10 terminations in Student Affairs the same day Jay Hartzell said 49 lost jobs in a SB17-related reorganization. UT says the 10 positions are unrelated, but faculty say it represents lost resources in a student-facing division. statesman.com/story/news/edu…

One of my classmates is now in a pretty impossible spot because their thesis advisor was fired without notice over SB 17.

This fouls up their graduation timeline, their funding, and their grant and research timelines. And there's not a clear path forward.
