Joy is a means through which resistance endures despite the overwhelming exhaustion movements face. Palestinians teach us this every day. Bringing joy to children, cooking for one another, and smiling in the face of oppression and in the ruins of colonialism is RESISTANCE.

Sarah Ihmoud teaches us that Palestine is not only a place or geography; it is a paradigm. It is the future not only of what will be done to us if we dare to resist colonialism but of a world free of domination if we remain steadfast in our collective resistance.

Encampments are not only zones of demands & refusals, but also processes of communing, making decisions together, enacting solidarity as a verb, embodying autonomous & collective liberation. They are themselves zones of imagination, of connection, of prefiguring life & new worlds

Sharing this gem again since academia loves to “decolonize” everything besides concrete things. Decolonization has become a metaphor signifying everything besides material change and collective resistance. Students at Columbia are showing us that another university is possible.

Exactly, never cede any platform or institutions to inhuman folks. It is our job in the professoriate to think critically about and critique the world in which we live so we can help create a people rather than materialist centered global society.

Never compromise your ethical and political commitments to liberation for a career or institution that will do everything it can to get rid of you.

Academics will always play catch-up with the discourses and practices advanced politically and collectively by social movements.

The so-called decolonization of education, curriculum, & pedagogy means absolutely nothing without material changes. Student movements are creating the conditions possibility of building an ethically & politically committed university linked to liberation.

Most statutes representing the modern colonial world are of violent, racist, ignorant colonizers such as Columbus so perhaps Eylon Levy is on to something.

Student movements are politico-pedagogical projects.
