This is incredibly disappointing. We cannot build enough social homes as a by-product of private development - even if 1.5m over 5 years is achieved. More social housing grant is needed - it is great capital investment, pays for itself, and will save revenue spending as well.

I'd add that at Community Land Trust Network we have found the current planning system now adds more than £10k to the cost of each home on small affordable housing projects, often more than the land!

For anyone who thinks planning ain't broke and doesn't need fixing...

Insights from our Community Housing Fund review will form part of our campaigning for new funding so CLTs can deliver homes that: - bolster national affordable housing goals - often in underserved places - often get more public support - generate community wealth and cohesion
