This week started with the acceptance of the first 1st author paper of Maria Bergemann's Bachelor student Annika Oetjens in a project which I co-supervised and is based on ancient project of mine. It will hit arxiv soon!

Dear TL, time for another thread on a recent paper. This one is the first of the undergraduate student Annika Oetjens from a bachelor thesis supervised with Maria Bergemann arxiv.org/pdf/2009.03624… So buckle up and listen to the tale of planets that spin-up their host stars!

And than Annika took the stellar expertise of Maria Bergemann and Aldo Serenelli and applied these to stars of solar and sub-solar metallicities. Why sub-solar metallicities, you ask? Great question!

Today is September 12. #OTD in 1897, chemist, physicist, and The Nobel Prize laureate Irène Joliot-Curie was born. Together with her husband, Frédéric Joliot-Curie, she discovered artificial radioactivity. Sadly, she died of leukemia, possibly caused by exposure to radiation.

Can we all please start referring this to as the "Tinsley diagram"? Beatrice Tinsley pointed out the utility of this diagram in ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1980FCPh..…, and don't we have enough diagrams named after men?

Honoured to be a recipient of this year's scheme along with Maria Bergemann at MPIA Heidelberg. Great opportunity for my PhD student Evans®️ to work on Galactic chemical evolution models and GALAH Survey data to learn more about the origin of type Ia #supernovae 🌟 UNSW

Today is February 20. #OTD in 1844 physicist Ludwig Boltzmann was born. He developed statistical mechanics, which explains and predicts how the properties of atoms (such as mass, charge) determine the observed properties of matter (such as viscosity, thermal conductivity).
