Is use of low-dose methotrexate (MTX) associated with an increased risk of skin cancer? Please find the key findings from our 🇩🇰 case-control study in the 🧵below British Journal of Cancer Cancer Research UK Nature Portfolio Springer Nature doi.org/10.1038/s41416… #dermtwitter #MedTwitter #MedEd 👇🏻
Check out my PhD student Julia Fougelberg's study on dermoscopy in intraepidermal carcinoma, based on findings from international expert dermoscopists. Apart from scales and dotted/glomerular vessels, pinkish-white areas were the most common features. doi.org/10.5826/dpc.13…

We need more prognostic factors for the large group of thin melanoma patients! Could the answer be found in spatial transcriptomics? Great talk by Dr Chenhao Zhou who has worked on our unique case-case series of thin melanomas. Chenhao Zhou Kiarash David Whiteman
ICYMI: Thin melanomas are responsible for almost a quarter of melanoma deaths so more understanding of which patients are at highest risk is required, researchers say. JEADV H. Peter Soyer David Whiteman Magdalena Claeson bit.ly/3q6rKsu
Another manuscript just out in JEADV originating from my postdoc period in Brisbane. Thin melanomas are more deadly if they are BRAF-V600E neg, if they develop de novo, and if they have high mitotic activity! doi.org/10.1111/jdv.19… Kliniska vetenskaper Sahlgrenska Academy Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset
Excellent presentation by doctoral student Alexandra Sjöholm at the half-time review of her studies, entitled "Simulatated Daylight Photodynamic Therapy for Superficial Skin Cancer". I, John Paoli and PhD Birgit Heckeman are happy supervisors! Kliniska vetenskaper, Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset
What a treat!!! ...to hear our PhD student Julia Fougelberg deliver her thesis on intraepidermal carcinoma: 1) dermoscopic findings showed poor to moderate interobserver agreement, 2) 63% clearence after PDT, and 3) surgical inexperience is a risk factor for incomplete excision.
