Thrilled to catch the ACEMID research and 3D total-body imaging machine at Melanoma Institute Australia featured on 9News.
Thks 2 amazing Professor Georgina Long AO & Melanoma Institute Australia team, cycle 12 #immunotherapy 4 me 2day. As usual, all went fine. I think even turned corner re antiepileptics side effects. Incredible it’s 9mths since #glioblastoma presented & no sign of recurrence (median 6mths). Next MRI mid March.

A world first for cancer research.
When @ProfScolyerMIA was diagnosed with the “worst of the worst” brain tumours, he set out on a journey with Professor Georgina Long AO to make the incurable curable.

'We are honoured & humbled to represent what we do at MIA' -Professor Georgina Long AO & Professor Richard Scolyer AO. There were cheers, camaraderie & cupcakes when we gathered to celebrate the 2024 Australians of the Year. We all look forward to using the AusoftheYearAwards platform to make a difference.
Congratulations, TRI-based Prof Carmel Hawley (Queensland Health, Metro South Health, PA Hospital Brisbane, UQ News, UQ Medicine) for her appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to kidney medicine as a researcher, clinician and mentor. bit.ly/3vTEFRu
Great to share Richard’s (Professor Richard Scolyer AO) latest clear #braincancer scan results with Ally A Current Affair. Also highlighted the need to stop glamorisation of tanning. A tan = skin cells in trauma. There is nothing healthy about a tan. Let’s aim for zero deaths from #melanoma
Course 11 #immunotherapy this morning! No exercise all week after bike crash last Saturday & my mildly abnormal LFTs now normal! Thus had super duper combination IT again today! Still on high after last week’s AusoftheYearAwards events where met incredible bunch of inspiring Aussies!
I am recruiting two PhD students in human-centered AI:
1) Explainable decision support for skin cancer detection w/ Alina and H. Peter Soyer
2) Human-centered verification of language model outputs w/ Joel Mackenzie and Guido Zuccon

Brilliant news!! Still no recurrence of my supposedly incurable #glioblastoma !! Median time 2 recurrence 4 all pts is 6 months; I’m now out to 8 months! Perhaps neoadjuv/adjuv combi immunotherapy is effective?? Need clinical trial. Thx family, Professor Georgina Long AO & diverse whole team!
