Good meeting at Estonia’s Riigikogu w/ Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Andres Sutt & Deputy Chair Enn Eesma to discuss Moldova’s determination to join the EU, consolidate its democracy and build its resilience to hybrid threats.

Today in Tallinn I met Hanno Pevkur, Estonia’s Defence Minister, for an exchange of views on regional security situation, Moldova’s defence sector modernisation with the help and expertise from friends & partners such as Estonia and on continued support via European Peace Facility.

Delighted to be back to Riga for discussions with my counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs. We spoke about Moldova’s EU accession & Latvia’s support for our membership path; exchanged views on regional security; and discussed a range of bilateral issues including boosting business links.

A pleasure to meet Dr. Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica & members of Saeimas ziņas’s foreign committee. We value Latvia’s steadfast support for Moldova’s EU accession and are determined to deepen cooperation - including at the parliamentary level - for transfer of knowledge and experience in this process.

In these difficult times, #Moldova needs support & the intl community stands in solidarity with us. Grateful to USAID & Samantha Power for the $30mln support to strengthen 🇲🇩’s energy sector.This will help us manage the challenges of the winter & maintain stability in the country.

#Moldova successfully passed the second review of the #IMF programme & will receive the next tranche of $27 million for budgetary support. I thank our IMF partners for their assistance & reaffirm the commitment to the programme implementation for the development of the country.

Invitations for the 2nd Summit of the European Political Community are out today! On June 1st, we will host in #Chisinau 47 heads of states, governments, and EU institutions. Looking forward to seeing everyone in 🇲🇩 Moldova.

Had a good exchange with 🇱🇺 PM Xavier Bettel at #WEF23 in Davos today. We appreciate the 🇱🇺 support for enhancing security in our region torn by war, and for 🇲🇩's bid for 🇪🇺 integration.

Glad to meet 🇨🇭President Alain Berset at #WEF23. We are building on the already strong bilateral ties & stepping up cooperation on security, development & environment protection. Also discussed next steps towards signing EFTA and advancing the social security agreement.

In my phone call w/ Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs & Minister for Defence Micheál Martin today I congratulated him on the new role, discussed bilateral ties, support for Moldovan diaspora living in Ireland and decisive steps we are taking towards EU membership.
