Images from East Suffolk Council proposals to redevelop a disused part of #Lowestoft station were released today which include a modern rooftop pod. No imagery showing the effect this will have on the symmetry of the wider station were available. A short online consultation began today.

Should they want further info on examples of how to sensitively develop historic railway structures, I’d be only too keen to assist. But current design falls short of adequacy IMHO: any conservation officer should note that it detracts from the historic building.

Lowestoft Central East Suffolk Council More to the point, why aren’t unused areas of the building being used first? This proposal is very silly, appears to be going against all the principles of sensitive re-use and could get a lot of people needlessly very cross indeed.

Have to say, I agree with you, Chris. Also Gil Sans sign removed! A key heritage relic.
