The work of UNIFIL's 10,000+ troops from 49 countries is crucial for stability along Blue Line. Aroldo Lázaro today commended representatives of these countries for their support, reiterating that peacekeepers are ready to help deescalate and return to cessation of hostilities.

At the Informal meeting of EU Defence Ministers, I stressed the need for collective responses amidst growing global tensions, especially in the Middle East where UNIFIL peacekeepers work under extremely challenging circumstances. Their safety & security is our top priority.

Meeting w/ Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto focused on the growing tensions in the Middle East. I expressed gratitude for Italy’s continuous support and contributions to peacekeeping, incl. over 800 peacekeepers deployed to UNIFIL.

Thanked Vice-Minister of Defense Paweł Zalewski for Poland's steadfast support and contributions to United Nations Peacekeeping. We discussed the challenging circumstances in UNIFIL, the risk of a broader regional conflagration and efforts towards de-escalation.
