UNIFIL continues its crucial work of supporting local communities. In Al Hinniyah village, our peacekeepers provided vital medical consultations and treatment to residents who have faced difficulties accessing medical services in recent months.

Pleased to accept the invitation of Sheikh Hassan Abdallah to meet with the muftis and bishops of Tyre yesterday. We discussed the ongoing situation in the south. I thanked them for their continued support to UNIFIL and its peacekeepers. We all share the goal of lasting peace.

UNIFIL head Aroldo Lázaro visited southeast Lebanon this week to see the impact of exchanges of fire. Given the real danger of escalation, we stress: only a political and diplomatic solution is viable. We call on everyone to lay down their weapons so people can return & rebuild.
