"Male violence – whether domestic abuse, a stranger attack, or terrorism – is not a case of a few bad apples or a rare lone event. It is systemic, a result of a thousand moments, big and small, that teach men to hate and women to be afraid."

Very saddened to read this. Nicky was very supportive when I started this role and was a great ally in tackling violence against women and girls. Wishing her family long life. May her memory be a blessing.

Important Cafcass explain how a man who raped the mother and was already convicted for raping a teenager and is on the sex offenders register was deemed safe to have unsupervised contact with his child? Reform of family courts is long overdue Jess Phillips Alex Davies-Jones MP

The Crown Prosecution Service have produced Easy Read versions of their guides for victims of crime and for victims of rape and serious sexual assault. These include pictures and language to make it easier for victims to understand the most important things, making justice more accessible for all.

We have been assured that measures are being taken to ensure serious sexual offenders and violent criminals are not released early from prison. News of a potential loophole is concerning - my team is looking into this to determine whether it needs addressing.

Great to meet Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner this morning and to hear how victim-centric her plans are to help improve support and protection of modern slavery victims. Pleased to hear about the good practice of Justice Navigators within Metropolitan Police - a vital service which is needed nationally.

My thoughts are with the families and survivors of Grenfell and the whole community who continue to suffer grief, anger and injustice after so long. It’s critical that there is now a commitment to much-needed reform.

The publication of the second phase of the Grenfell Inquiry is an important step on the journey to justice for the bereaved, survivors and local community. City Hall will support the police in ensuring those who committed so much wrongdoing are brought to justice.

Excerpt from my article ⬇️ which talks about SHERA Research Group: Health Law Rights Support © paper on child sexual abuse (CSA) in the family courts. We need to see an end to allegations of CSA being reframed as parental alienation as it is placing children at risk and damaging lives. Reform is urgently needed.

I have spent many years⁩ working to expose and reform the family courts. However,⁦Hannah Summers⁩ recent reporting on shocking cases, and SHERA Research Group: Health Law Rights Support © CSA paper are stark reminders that we have a long way to go to end this ‘state sanctioned abuse’. london.gov.uk/who-we-are/cit…

Disappointed the previous Government refused to restrict parental responsibility for any parent convicted of child sexual offences in the Victims Act. Urge new Government to move swiftly, as children need urgent protection. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/n…

Inadequate agencies’ response to ASB, with ⁦Victims' Commissioner for England & Wales⁩ new research showing less than 1/3 of victims who report receive any help. We have long called for a single point of contact & better compliance with the code to improve responses to victims. victimscommissioner.org.uk/news/still-liv…

With the first round of early releases from prison tomorrow, my thoughts in the The Telegraph about what this means for victims, and how years of Government inaction and mismanagement has crippled the justice system, with victims paying the price 👇

While all victims on the Victim Contact Scheme (VCS) should have been informed by now of their offender’s release, there will be many for whom today will come as a horrible shock - those who opted out of scheme, weren't aware of it, or not eligible for it. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/09/0…

This has been a tough decision for Government to make, but ultimately necessary to keep our justice system afloat. A lot of work has been done in London ahead of these releases to prepare and safeguard victims. I will be closely monitoring for any issues ⬇️

In response to the Harm Report in June 2020, the last govt agreed an urgent review of the legal presumption of parental involvement. Four years later, still not progress. Pleased to hear Alex Davies-Jones MP confirm this govt will respond in due course. We owe it to Claire Throssell MBE
