Wisconsin corn yield estimated to average 194.3 bpa. It's unclear what impact this weekend's heavy rains will have. Over the past few years, WI corn has been a standout in DTN's Digital Yield Tour. dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

DTN Digital Yield Tour estimates Illinois #corn could average 220 bpa, but as the headline says: Questions About Pollination, Water Hide in Illinois' Tall Corn Stands dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

Lafayette County, in southwestern Wisconsin, is once again forecast to have the state's highest county yield average at 233 bpa. Statewide average estimated at 194.3 bpa; 5-year RMA average is 180.9 bpa.

The DTN Digital Yield Tour estimates Illinois corn yield average statewide at 220.1 bpa. Warren County has the highest forecasted average at 244.4 bpa. But the state as a whole faces a lot of questions. Pam Smith's comments from farmers make this story a must read, IMO.

Iowa corn yields could set a record in 2025. #DTNDigitalYieldTour25 estimates the state at 223.7 bpa, with soybeans also nudging a record. We'll have to see where USDA's guess lands at 11 a.m. CT today. In the meantime, you can read all about what farmers say here:

It's a different year in Minnesota. Late season floods took a toll in 2024, and while this year has been rainy, its ponded and drowned out spots that could take the shine off corn yields. The #DTNDigitalYieldTour25 estimates the statewide average at 199.1 bpa.

NASS called for a 222 bpa statewide average corn yield in Iowa in today's report. DTN's yield models on trained on RMA's data, which is usually higher than NASS. I thought our Iowa number was quite high -- 223.7 bpa -- but it looks a little more reasonable now. Thoughts?

It's "green as ever" in South Dakota. Temperatures haven't hit oppressively hot, but will September cooperate? #DTNDigitalYieldTour2025 estimates statewide average #corn yield at 169.2 bpa and #soybeans at 43.8 bpa, which our sources say could be low.

Between wet weather and wildfire smoke, this summer lacked sunshine and heat in North Dakota. Farmers say wonder how this summer's weather could knock off yields. But then again, a derecho did a lot of damage to storage. Grain needs a place to go.

The #DTNDigitalYieldTour25 forecast for Indiana's corn crop is 10 bpa higher than last year's estimate at 206.1 bpa, but can it get there after a tough start to the year and potential pollination issues? dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

There's such a variability in corn maturity in Ohio that farmers say we'll have to wait until the combines roll. But in the meantime, #corn and #soybeans could really use a rain! dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

Phelps County, Nebraska is forecast to have the highest county-average corn yield in the country in DTN's yield models, estimated at 228.9 bpa. The whole state started in drought, but it's likely going to beat the 5-year average. dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

We'll put the Digital Yield Tour in context next, offering updated yield estimates, a weather outlook for the rest of August/September as well as fall harvest season, and a grain market forecast in our next webinar. I'd love to see you there.

DTN Digital Yield Tour sees Missouri #corn yields averaging 187.7 bpa, much higher than the state's 166.3 bpa 5-year average.

Kansas #corn yields really responded to this year's improved conditions. DTN's Digital Yield Tour pegs yields at 138.7 bpa, up from its 111.4 bpa five-year RMA yield average.

Crop insurance may be the bedrock of the farm safety net, but it doesn't work for everyone. Some farmers pay in more than they'll ever receive in indemnities - so they're turning to microcaptives, reaping the tax and business planning advantages. dtnpf.com/agriculture/we…

Katie Dehlinger (@katied_dtn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

There are lots of ways farmers manage risk. Crop insurance and grain marketing strategies often come to mind. Here's an interesting concept for people whose yields are consistently too high to receive crop insurance indemnities, and it comes with tax advantages.

Corn & soybean yield estimates climbed in the Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas while holding steady/climbing slightly in the ECB. Except IL. Yields dropped, but models don't fully capture the extent. More discussion on that 👇
