The research staff of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru (The National Institute, Kuru), paid a visit to the office of the Special Adviser SDGs. They are in Kano for the assessment of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals SDG 2 and SDG 6 in Kano State.

In the pursuit to domesticate and localize the Sustainable Development Goals at grassroot levels (local and state government levels), a presentation was made to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (OFR).

One of the essential mechanisms to make SDGs a success, is to increase awareness (general grasp and comprehension of the concepts of the SDG’s by the local populace through the medium of a local language).

Taking Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the next level by translating them into our local languages. For many years after the adaptation of the SDGs, majority of these communities doesn’t even know of their existence.

Yesterday, Canada in Nigeria and Connected Development [CODE] signed a Cooperation Agreement to support and accelerate ongoing efforts in Kano state to domesticate the VAPP Act (integrate into the Penal CODE) to curb Sexual and Gender Based Violence that provides legal and regulatory frameworks.

During the two year campaign, CODE will provide support to the Kano state Ministry of Justice & the Kano state House of Assembly. We will conduct outreaches to engage communities, a behavioral radio 📻 show in Hausa to educate the general public on increasing demand for Justice!

Today UNDP Nigeria signed an agreement with Germany in Nigeria in support of Government of Nigeria Police Reform efforts. This programme will help to accelerate long-term efforts in building an effective, efficient and professional police service across the country 🇳🇬
