#OTD at 5:12am a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck San Francisco that lasted less than a minute. The San Andreas fault slipped along a 270 mile stretch.
The water mains failed and SF burned for three days.

Today marks the 118th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake & fire, which destroyed 28,000 buildings & instantly displaced 250,000 residents. SF parks & its employees were key in sheltering the victims of the disaster & starting the city on its road to recovery.
