"Consensus among all physicians" will keep schools shut (forever?) b/c decision is about balancing risks and benefits, and people have different values and views. This is as much consensus as one can get: Children hospitals requesting open schools, COVIDScienceOntario NOT against.

With this in mind -and similar data from Israel- we may want to use these amazing vaccines where they help most, ie second doses for higher risk individuals rather than teenagers.

This is interesting: data from the UK suggests less COVID-19 at schools with Delta wave than back in Fall 2020, potentially thanks to newly implemented mitigation measures including vaccination for teachers. bmj.com/content/374/bm…

Here’s our study of unobserved saline gargle collection for COVID-19 testing. This data supported the roll out of take home PCR test kits in over 600 BC schools starting last spring. Hopefully take home tests can be used more widely going forward. #bced sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng says that schools "should be an essential service" and that closing them down has been shown to have a detrimental impact on kids' mental and physical health. "If we can keep Amazon factories open, if we can keep malls open, we can serve our kids," he said.

We are aware of misinformation circulating on social media regarding children and hospitalization rates. We are not currently seeing a dramatic change in hospitalization rates in children due to COVID-19. We are continuing to monitor the situation.
