The lumps and bumps at Grime’s Graves are huge, a really impressive and rare landscape. I’m off to look for a puddingstone which marks the start of a supposed lost trade route from Grimes Graves to Stonehenge proposed by Dr Ernest Rudge. Can I find it? Read on… /1

I don't think I've come across a place that captures so evocatively the memory of the past within the fabric, as the sea of steps at Wells Cathedral.

Secklow in , where Anglo Saxons met to talk local issues & serve justice. Today, the law courts, registry office & council buildings surround the mound. People still gather here from across the region, a grassy forerunner of many of our municipal systems.

The 4m tall Pierre du Domaine in Plerguer (Ille-et-Vilaine) was said to stand on the site of a battle between armies. When only one man survived from each army the menhir sprang out of the ground and separated them and they made peace. .

Flat sump boxed by seven rivers—Ouse
and Trent, Idle, Torne, Don, Aire and Went.
Winding and doodling over their warps,
slow broadening to Humber.

Here's an contender for . It's the Highfield Barrow in Hemel Hempstead, dwarfed by the new town. Unbelievably, in the recent past, cars have been driven over it, and plans submitted to turn it into a skate park, but for now, it's safe.

Thornborough Henges in North Yorkshire has been reunited 🎉

We’ve acquired the 3rd & final henge meaning that public access across the entirety of this major Neolithic site is guaranteed. It is a remarkable survivor from the prehistoric past & we can’t wait to share its stories.

Worth watching out for how the prehistoric past and Neolithic farmers become appropriated by ‘the far right’s new agrarian populism’.

And in Hampshire, culture dies

@Hantsconnect cuts £600,000 of funding per year to the charity Hampshire Cultural Trust

Heritage sites, arts centres and museums, including the unique Iron Age Andover Museum are to close

A greater act of vandalism by a County Council is hard to imagine 😡
