On my day off, I went to Brent Cross and in Boots was racially profiled and picked out by their W security who boldly approached me and told me to my face that he was sent to watch me and my 2 black friends.

At first I thought he was joking but then continued to tell me no he wasn’t. He then said he was specifically sent to keep an eye on us 3 black girls Boots Brent Cross. Mind u all we were doing was talking because I’d met them in there and not seen them in a while #racist

When I began to challenge him and ask why us out of everyone in here you decided to pick us out? He then said again he was sent to look at us he doesn’t need to explain why. Boots Brent Cross at that point I asked him are you racially profiling us? Continued.. #racist

He’s response to me asking him if he’s racially profiling us was, life is too short let’s not worry about that Boots Brent Cross I got very embarrassed and shocked. When I challenged him more (because he decided to stay in our space and made me feel uncomfortable)….cont

I tired to walk away he continued to follow me. I stopped and asked for Boots manager. I began to explain to the manger what happened in the store, he tired to resolve the situation. The security guard then said to us: ‘I should not have an issue cause he is also an immigrant’

I don’t understand what immigrant has to do with him profiling me & my ‘black’ friends Boots? Even your employee & the manager could not believe how bold Brent Cross security was. Although the manager apologised, it’s still disgusting having someone like that work for you.

My friends & I wasn’t doing anything to be picked out of hundreds of people shopping because 3 black girls were talking. 2 who are teachers & myself a nurse who may have to look after these racist one day. I tell u one thing about me, I refuse to let these racist think it’s ok!!

The Diane Abbott situation has honestly deeply affected me, and I know it's affected a lot of black folk. We all knew that racism & misogyny is rife in the UK. But to see the reactions from those in power when a black women has been so clearly & disgustingly threatened...

Wait, so Diane Abbott was removed as the Labour whip because she said “although white people with points of difference suffer prejudice, they have not suffered the same racism as black people.” ….I mean…did she lie? Is that not what we’re seeing now??

It has been an incredible honor and privilege to have the support of our wonderful nursing workforce as the RCN President, I worked hard for you and fought racism and misogyny to bring about positive change within our nursing workforce following that awful Carr Review. I am not
