New bioRxiv preprint. Here, we showed that RBOHD-mediated ROS directly suppresses the T2SS of a potentially harmful Xanthomonas, thereby converting it into a commensal. Interestingly, this "tamed" Xanthomonas increases the host benefit. doi.org/10.1101/2023.0…

Finally online! First paper from lab! I’m so happy this work found a great home The EMBO Journal read all about how a root barrier does more than just selection! It also signals to the shoot! - a feature thats hidden until you put it plants on a “real” soil doi.org/10.1038/s44318…

NEW REVIEW OUT Fungal pathogens (in fact, not only fungi and not only pathogens!) manipulate the microbiota of their plant hosts during infection. We reviewed the processes involved, focusing on effector proteins with selective antimicrobial activities. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

We found a way to implant bacteria 🦠 in fungi 🍄and used it to induce artificial endosymbiosis. Read all about it in our newest research paper nature . nature.com/articles/s4158…

Obligate biotrophic fungi cause some of the most devastating diseases on cereals. They are also highly difficult to study…. It is truely remarkable how well described the barley and what powdery mildews are. Here the current knowledge and summary of great resources. Enjoy!

I am very happy to see my main PhD project published. Immunomodulation is conserved across Xanthomonadales: Similar to pathogens, commensals have several mechanisms to interact with the plant immune system. - Thanks to everyone involved in this project. nature.com/articles/s4147…
