Years ago, I met someone who worked in the city of Vancouver's planning department. I don't remember her name, but I haven't forgotten how angry she made me when she told me 'actually, there is no such thing as the housing crisis'.

Vancouver's planning department IS the problem

LA figured out an extremely clever hack to make building BMR homes attractive to for-profit developers. They rushed in. They all said “I’m greedy and I’m doing this for profits.” Everyone was winning. It was awesome.

Suddenly “left” NIMBYs like “ohh stop this we’re concerned!”

To combat a growing public perception they are anti-housing, the Coastal Commission is hosting a seminar on fair housing in the coast next month. Will you join me in commenting that their opposition to AB 2560 (affordable housing incentives in the coast) harms fair housing there?

Do NOT vote for this NIMBY bullshit running for Berkeley City Council if you ever want to afford to live in Berkeley or have safe streets for walking and cycling. She lives in a multi-million dollar single-family home and opposes new housing and bike lines. Go away.

The US housing crisis will continue until we remove the gatekeeping power of local NIMBYs. They are strangling this country.

When someone says building more homes is an 'ineffective' strategy for making housing more affordable, they are lying to you.

State Law mandates that only wealthy single-family homeowners can enjoy living on the water, this use was banned after these lower cost cottages were built.

And that’s the progressive position. Gotta love equity.

A long, TL;DR thread on why consumer sentiment says we’re in a recession even though we’re emphatically not, but:

It’s the housing shortage and NIMBYism, stupid.

Senator Senator Scott Wiener 's has passed the Senate!

This critical legislation enhances CA DOJ's ability to hold local governments accountable if they violate state housing laws.

My office is committed to doing our part to end California’s housing crisis.

These folks are fun. They go from the NIMBY example of housing to “artillery range” red herring and then just forget HCD and by-right development is a thing.

Meanwhile, I’m in the real world building shit with maxed out FAR and 3’ setbacks.
