The tennis courts at Hollycroft Park reopen tomorrow. You can book a court from today. For your safety and to make social distancing easier, we've made a few changes to the booking process and you must bring your own equipment for the time being. More: ow.ly/jNVe50zKeTk

Cycling through Burbage I noticed blue plaques on quite a few buildings. These have been placed on the houses, where they still exist, of servicemen from the village who were killed in #WW1. In total there are 30 plaques commemorating 32 men, which includes two sets of brothers.

Eighty year ago Operation Dynamo, which would eventually see over 330,000 allied soldiers evacuated from #Dunkirk, was well under way. One of those rescued is buried, in Burbage, a few miles from where I live, his grave is marked by a Commonwealth War Graves headstone. 1/2

A local connection to the Dam Busters raid can be found on The Sycamores pub in Burbage. In 1940 Geoffrey saw, from a distance, Coventry burning following the blitz and decided to join the RAF. Later in the war he took part in Operation Chastise. ➡️ hinckleypastpresent.org/ww2geoffreyric…
