Last trip to the Somme & Dominique (Le Tommy, Pozieres) wanted to show us a S.M.L-E. recently found on a local farm. He's made a good job of cleaning it. Its an interesting & unusual example😉

Frederick Timms, a 17-year-old soldier, died on this day in 1919 at Ripon Military Hospital. Due to his age his rank is recorded as ‘Boy’. He served with the Leicestershire Regiment.

Looking into the grave, on the right image, it points to;

2nd Lieutenant - A W Gordon. RFC.
Died 12 August 1917
Buried: Etaples Military Cemetery, France.

Would anybody have a clue to what cemetery this could be, note the landscape to the rear, trees etc, maybe Tom Tulloch-Marshall ?

It’s hard to imagine the grief felt by Eliza Spriggs, who lost two sons in under a year. Sadly, neither has a known grave. Walter is named on the Pozieres Memorial, and Alfred is named on the Arras Memorial. Both are recorded on the village war memorial.
