📌 Yesterday I chaired the APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood meeting. 💬 We are, again, disappointed by the Government’s unnecessary delays to compensation. 👉 And ready to continue the fight for justice.

118 MPs from 10 political parties have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer @jeremy_hunt ahead of next week's Budget Statement asking for HM Treasury to allocate the funds needed to implement the April 2023 final Infected Blood Inquiry recommendations on infected blood compensation.

Today I will be presenting a petition in Parliament that: 👉 Declares those infected and affected by the contaminated blood scandal have waited far too long for redress. 👉 Urges the Government to implement Sir Brian Langstaff’s recommendations without delay.

It's been two weeks since our mass lobby at Parliament - demanding immediate compensation for those infected and affected by contaminated blood. It's now almost a year since the Inquiry's recommendations and the government still won't to commit to paying full compensation.

🔎Great to see 5 MPs from 4 different parties presenting petitions on the infected blood scandal today. 🤝MPs are united: justice delayed is justice denied. ⏰391 days since Sir Brian Langstaff’s final recommendations on compensation, there is no excuse for further delays.

But why didn’t you do this in April 23 when Sir Brian Langstaff Infected Blood Inquiry made his final recommendations on compensation & told the Government to start paying by the end of 23 . Why did it take the Government being defeated in UK House of Commons in December to force you to act?

On Monday, the Infected Infected Blood Inquiry’s final report will be published. For those who have campaigned decades for justice, it will be a momentous and emotional day. Today I asked the Government whether there will be time for MPs to debate the report findings ⬇

I welcome this landmark Infected Blood Inquiry report. It shows how the biggest treatment disaster in NHS history became a huge scandal due to a 40 year cover-up. An apology will only be meaningful if action follows, first on compensation and then on how the state treats our citizens.
