Yes I would have happily done what Michaela does each day and have form tutors collect them in at the start of the day.

Your lovely wife, who was a Head of Year alongside me, knows the work load for teacher’s and behavioural issues caused by phones being used in school time.

Schools must have a proper ban on phones during the school day.

Lock them away at the start of the day & give them back at the end.

They are a cause of behavioural issues/bullying in schools (impacting teacher recruitment/retention), & fails to develop key social skills.

Let’s look at England’s results in international league tables for maths under Labour and the Conservatives:

2009 (Labour) = 27th
2023 (Conservative) = 11th

In Labour run Wales, they’ve fallen to their lowest level ever in maths, reading and science.

Labour can’t be trusted!

Under Labour the State Pension increased by just 75p in 1999 and we had the fourth highest rate of pensioner poverty in Europe.
