Three late arrivals!

In light of the avian flu outbreak we're asking members of the public not to take access through seabird colonies for the rest of the breeding season to limit spread of the virus and give colonies the best possible opportunity of survival & recovery by reducing additional stress.

Help wildlife in hot weather! It's set to get seriously hot so keep your watering stations, ponds and bird baths topped up with water, and let some of your garden grow wild to provide shade for the animals. ☀️💦

We’re seeing lots of stunning grouping behaviour from the little tern roost, not long before they leave. Very pleased to be back to ‘normal’ weather today, woolly hat firmly back on!! The cormorants look happy too! #littletern #heatwave

Roll up, roll up! I am pleased to announce that all the little tern nests have been hatched, fledged, and evacuated at Gronant! We have started packing up the site, if anyone can come and lend a few hours over the weekend or next week, please get involved! NW LITTLE TERN GROUP

Probably my last session #volunteering over at the Gronant Little Terns for this season, if you want to help there's still a few days when you can help the Rangers dismantling the last of the fences etc. You can still catch sight of the #LittleTerns gathering along the shore line

Chick hidden in the pebbles

We’re all set to go for the Christchurch Play Day in Rhyl - come and join us for pebble painting, badge making, and a little tern treasure hunt!

Heard from the wardens that 2500 people came through today to the Christchurch Play Day! We must have made hundreds of amazing and unique badges! What a lot of fun!

Following on from Gronant Little Terns successful season, we're delighted to confirm we had record numbers of breeding #LittleTerns at Point of Ayr this year; a total of 39 pairs, 81 eggs, 34 successful nests & 69 fledged chicks. Look out for a blog soon for more details. 📸RSPB
