Pleased to be back in #Nablus , but concerned by the briefings of Governor Ghassan Daghlas and Mayor Husam Al-Shakhshir: additional checkpoints, soaring unemployment, economic downturn. Obvious need for easing restrictions in order to avoid further destabilisation.

Regret that this morning a meeting of EU heads of mission was aggressively disrupted by a group of university students. The EU and its Member States remain fully committed to dialogue and engagement with the Palestinian people.

Peaceful protest & dialogue always has its place. We regret that today’s meeting of EU Heads of Missions at the National Museum in Birzeit was unduly interrupted by protestors.
Nevertheless, we remain committed to constructively work with our Palestinian partners!
