Enjoyed my visit to BMW Spartanburg. This plant is an outstanding example of German investment in the US.

It has created 11,000 jobs onsite & assembles 1,500 vehicles per day. More to come: BMW USA is investing about $1.7 billion in South Carolina to prepare for the EV future.

Had lunch in a sandwich shop in Columbia, SC. Started to chat with the guy who runs the place. After realizing that he spoke with the German Ambassador, he said: “Thank you for investing in South Carolina. You helped a lot of people in this state.” That was touching. He meant it!

There’re over 200 German companies in South Carolina, employing some 40,000 Americans. Many have announced major investments in the state that will create even more jobs in the near future.
