An incarcerated brother I am in correspondence with donated $17.74 for relief efforts in Gaza. This donation is the sum of 136 hours of his labor in the prison working as a porter/janitor. May his sincere donation be multiplied by the Creator.

“Everyone says corruption is everywhere, but for me, it seems strange to say that and then not try to put the people guilty of that corruption away.”

We must keep Alexei Navalny’s courageous activism in our minds as we continue his fight against threats to democracy worldwide.

For the first time in its almost 60 year history, federal Medicaid dollars will start going towards paying rent

*(up to 6 months)

It's a really major policy development — one with huge opportunities, risks, and challenges.

I looked closely for Vox:

Facts are fun. I like them. Unfortunate but not surprising that some elected officials are still pushing dangerous xenophobic tropes as we head into November. For the people in the back: there were no cuts made to our cops, FDNY, or our schools due to the migrant costs.

Taxpayers are spending $240,000 per year to lock up a single aging New Yorker. That money – more than $500 million annually -- would be better spent on community-based initiatives that actually contribute to public safety. It's time to end perpetual punishment. I read with interest but then when I got to the argument that says tenants shouldn’t have attorneys…

I can’t.

This is something landlords say frequently, despite the fact that 99% of landlords have attorneys. It’s basically arguing for an imbalance of power.

A growing number of U.S. unions are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, driven by their members. This is a break from decades of U.S. labor officials vocally supporting Israel, says historian Jeff Schuhrke.

*Sigh*

Imagine a world where PACs spend $100M to stop gun violence, maternal mortality or childhood hunger.

Instead, we have AIPAC dropping $100M against members calling for peace and ceasefire.
