When disaster strikes, people under correctional control are not free to flee. Florida has one of the largest criminal legal systems in the world with 340,000 people behind bars or on probation. #Milton will be dire – and these lives are at the mercy of the correctional system.

Florida DOC has currently “evacuated” 5,640 people. As pointed out by @fl_abolition, the vast majority of these evacuations are from work release camps, halfway houses, and other low-security facilities to “hardened facilities” some of which are literally across the street.
