Laronde Elementary students learned a lot during a visit to the White Rock Daytime Warming Centre recently: surreyschools.ca/_ci/p/166047
They also brought donations as well a large ‘Welcome’ painting for the shelter!

Embracing the warmth in the midst of the storm!
Our shelter doors are open wide to welcome those seeking refuge from the cold. We've got meals, hot drinks, cozy clothes, social workers, mental health councillors and medical assistance to share.

While gripped by record low temperatures, our dedicated healthcare team is working tirelessly at our shelter site to provide support, care, and hope to those in need.

Our hygiene days bring a closeness with another human being that many haven't had for so long due to years of neglect and lack of access. New clothes, showering and getting free haircut provides a health check and a huge boost in confidence!

Today while commemorating Khalsa Sajna Divas in the City of Surrey we continued to ensure the equitable access to health resources and gave out 1000’s of rapid tests, sanitizer and masks. Public health done right.

A giant leap…Doctor’s have joined our team to assist efforts to bridge health/social care and remove restrictive barriers that hurt the most vulnerable and limit their access to housing and other vital supports.

So many emotions & deep gratitude to those supporting the #homelesscount & to those who shared their experiences. Special shout out to all amazing volunteers in #sswr #SurreyBC #surrey #whiterock #whiterock bc #Ladner & thank you Pattie Petrala for always holding it down ❤️
Biting cold, lack of health care, inequitable access to hygiene & nutrition, accidents and diseases can lead to chronic wounds for many. We are grateful for the healing brought to the most vulnerable at our shelter by an exceptional team of Fraser Health nurses.

Extreme temperatures hit vulnerable populations hard but thanks to City of White Rock and partners we are helping people with their emergency needs…fluids, shelter, safety, warmth, change of clothes, emergency health care, hot meals and system navigation.
