#OnThisDay 1805 Lord Nelson embarked his flagship, HMS VICTORY in HMNB Portsmouth for the last time. She sailed the next day and 5 weeks later, both her and Nelson would be immortalised after one of the UK and Royal Navy most important victories at sea off Cape Trafalgar.
On this day, 21 October 1805, the Royal Navy under the command of Lord Nelson defeated the (on paper) stronger combined French and Spanish fleets under Villaneuve. Below J.M.W.Turner’s 1822 painting. #traflagar #turner #nelson

In 2017 after the death of the late Tessa Jowell from a Glioblastoma Department of Health and Social Care gave National Institute for Health and Care Research £40,000,000 for brain tumour research. Shockingly it’s still not spent. In that time 22,400 ppl incl Margaret will have been diagnosed & most will be dead. Why aren’t they sacked?
