Slimefest 2019! was a huge success. We made Halloween 🎃 slime with glitter, spiders, and eyeballs. A good time was had by all. A special thanks to Michele Smith for helping! ❤️

We hosted our first exhibition this week. We invited the kindergarteners to come and learn about schools and why they are important. We performed reader’s theater plays to showcase how schools 🏫 around the world 🌎 can be similar to Dunn and different, and shared our writing.

We had an awesome time learning about fossils at The Falls of the Ohio today!

Happy Veteran’s Day! Our buddies in @KristofecksMVPs are working with us to make cards for the Robley Rex VA hospital.

Our creative second graders had 30 minutes to come up with a turkey disguise and create it. These turkeys are well done 🦃!

#SpookyReading is when you turn the lights out and read with flashlights and glow sticks. It’s also a great way to reward kids for great behavior.

Today these bakers followed a recipe to bake 3 pumpkin pies 🥧 from scratch! They were so 😋 delicious! #MakingTraditions

Which objects are useful for building towers? These collaborative teams used solids to discover which objects on their trays possess the best tower-building properties.

Today we held our Fossils exhibition for @KristofecksMVPs. We opened with a song, talked about all of the books we read and things we learned, created trace fossils, and shared our illustrated narrative writing. Another fantastic unit from EL Education. #JCPSDL

I love how excited my kiddos were when I told them our buddies invited us to their fossils exhibition! Second graders, Second Grade Team, we are proud of YOU! Keep up the good work! ⭐️

About once a year a teacher will accidentally send an email to the entire district (about 7k people). This is followed by teachers and admin, most with master's degrees or higher, hitting "reply all" and begging for all the emails to stop. It can go on for days. It's glorious.

Happy ❤️ Valentine’s Day! Our sweet second graders had a blast yesterday. We brought in our decorated mailboxes and selected our favorites before stuffing them with candy and cards. Finally we finished out the day with a class 🎉 party.

Working as researchers in discussion groups we synthesized information about bees 🐝 from multiple texts to determine why bees are attracted to flowers 🌸 and which body structures are responsible for pollination.

We are synthesizing information as we meet in discussion groups using new photographs to help us thoroughly understand how pollinators 🐝 help plants 🌱 grow and survive.
