GMC removed ‘DOCTOR’ from ‘Good Medical Practice’
It now says ‘Medical Professional’ blurring lines & confusing the public
GMC, Government MPs & NHS leaders are replacing Doctors with less qualified staff, without public consent or agreement
UK needs GOOD DOCTORS now not so much

What the hell is going?! PAs given direct access to the Foundation Programme?!

I am sick of the gaslighting by the powers above - falsely reassuring us PAs are not replacing doctors, whilst doing EXACTLY THAT behind our backs

PAs ARE NOT DOCTORS!

We are witnessing the…

Exclusive: Home Office civil servants are “running away” from roles linked to the Rwanda scheme, insiders have said

There is internal frustration over attempts to implement the government’s plans, which civil servants called 'unworkable' and 'a shit show'

Worrying lack of opportunity for woefully inadequate number of GPs we have in the NHS.

Choices are poor:

Partner - unlimited liability/workload, inadequate investment/unviable contracts

Salaried - unsustainable/unsafe workloads, 33% pay erosion

Locum - risk of unemployment

I'll get in early here and state that, as an elected rep of NE GPs, I oppose same-day hubs as they are a terrible idea seemingly supported mostly by GPs bought and paid for by NHSE.

GMC me for it.

GMC really? You suspend a doctor for this but allow grifting medics who spread dangerous misinformation about public health keep their registration. Who is pulling your strings?

*We want to protect the new ARRS staff and the capacity that comes with it because the second we don’t, the artificial need for certain roles we’ve created by giving GP partners a Hobson’s choice ends up naked and exposed for the whole industry to see.

We don't think doctors are the best people to judge whether someone is too ill to work, so we are giving that job to unqualified private contractors, whose pay will depend on finding everyone fit for work.

It is vital that NHS England Amanda Pritchard listen to the concerns of General Practice
The failure to support General Practice at a time of unprecedented demand with a cut in funding, on top of a previous 20% £/patient cut since 2016 is unsustainable
Without GPs there is no NHS

In my role I speak to GPs up & down the country. They all now say ‘enough is enough’. We are witnessing the constructive dismissal of NHS Gen Practice by this govt. We General Practice wrote to NHS England & govt to say we’re in dispute. There’s more to come from GPs. Watch this space…

NHS England have again cut funding for GP Practices in 2024/25
A 2% increase in funding representing another 2% cut, after years of real terms cuts
Funding has risen from £153/patient/year in 2016 to £165, equivalent to a 20% cut £35
Enough for 2 extra GPs for an average practice

As much as the apology from Amanda Pritchard about the wrong decision by NSH to stop the Practioner Health service is welcome. The question has to be asked as to why this service is in such demand in the first place. Better working conditions for NHS staff is the answer.

I’m sick of the brigade

The debate surrounding the PA role is simply too important. We’re discussing issues that directly affect patients’ lives & jeopardises their safety

Why don’t we use:

- be honest
- be transparent
- be civil
- be professional
- be principled

But…

They weren’t always so secretive:

Look at the published dates. Where was RCGP or any college when this was proposed?

In 2017 HEE approved 30% cuts to its running costs to prioritise developing the non-medical workforce over
training support.
