Rohan is a good friend who supported me through some tough times, so when he says something like that I actually believe him. He indeed put his mind, body, heart, spirit and soul into setting up this covid-19 testing facility from scratch in record time.

The Banfield lab and @igisci are looking for a bioinformatics #PostDoc to work on identifying features of uncultured microbial genomes, including those with utility in genome editing. Full description: docs.google.com/document/d/1uB…

In metagenomes of uncultivated organisms, we found a sister clade to Form I Rubisco that lacks the small subunit (so far found entirely in a single order of Chloroflexi!). Awesome work led by ShihLab and Doug Banda to characterize this missing piece in Rubisco evolution!

We're excited to announce the Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure (cellstructureatlas.org), an open-access multimedia textbook that shows what's inside microbial cells like never before, featuring ~150 of our best cryotomograms and animations

We're deploying vaccines like we do annual flu shots rather than the mass vaccinations done in Africa & Asia where millions are vaccinated in weeks Years ago, Joe Rhatigan & I studied these campaigns. They offer several lessons that can inform what we need in the US now THREAD

Check out my new preprint on the Chloroflexi! I hope this analysis serves to help other researchers who are interested in these super cool microbes. They're full of surprises!
