Much has changed in the world since my last trip to Tokyo but some things don’t: the cherry blossoms keep blooming as does Japan‘s commitment to bringing hope to millions displaced globally.

Malka, a Sudanese refugee in Kenya, discovered her talent for football at a very young age.

She is hopeful that through sport she will be able to change her life and the lives of her parents and siblings.

I think of the refugees I've met in DR Congo in 2022.

Families, mothers, children, all trying to rebuild their lives and find ways to be self-sufficient.

Today, their safety is at risk again amid the ongoing violence.

I had the honour of sharing an Iftar dinner with some of the more than 500,000 Sudanese refugees & asylum seekers who have been welcomed into Egypt.

My solidarity with them & all those forcibly displaced.
