The conflict in Sudan continues, sadly.

8.5 million people have fled their homes. And more continue to flee.

Sudan and its neighbouring countries, generously hosting refugees, urgently need international support.

In Honduras, +250K are internally displaced because of violence. I'm impressed by the commitment of students, teachers, and youth to building a better future for their communities.

Their work is a message of hope, and UNHCR will continue supporting their efforts.

Solange's journey from fear to hope is a testament to resilience. Forced to flee her village in Chad due to armed conflict, she found refuge in Baltram.

The Security Council just approved a long-awaited resolution on Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

This resolution must be implemented. Failure would be unforgivable.

Yobe State Advisory Committee on Solutions took another bold step in domestication of the National Policy on IDPs. This is an important process to ensure the State Action Plan is locally centered, collaborative, sustainable & coordinated with a solid govt commitment. 🤝🤝🤝

Today 🇹🇩 Govt endorsed a solutions roadmap for 500,000 internally displaced Chadians in line with UNSG Action Agenda for IDPs 🇺🇳

This promises development investments in services & agricultural lands for IDPs and their hosts

Today we signed a partnership agreement with JICA - Japan International Cooperation Agency to support the Government of Adamawa State and local authorities in providing adequate healthcare services to displaced and host communities.

A packed week in New York this past week, meeting with the UN leadership, Member States - bilaterally and collectively, UN agencies and others. I feel a significant change in the level of engagement & interest on internal displacement. In New York as in DC a few weeks ago.

Around 70% of people forced to flee come from countries that are among the most vulnerable and least ready to adapt to the effects of climate change.

It's with them in mind that we launched UNHCR's Strategic Plan for Climate Action today.

Today in 2019, #CycloneIdai hit #Mozambique . 5 years later, 84,000 of those affected remain displaced. Still. They need sustainable housing solutions & access to services. Investing in climate adaptation & disaster prevention is key to reduce risk of renewed displacement.
