As a Canadian living in Asia it feels like living in the future > 10:00am wake up > 2:30pm beach > 4:00pm coffee shop > 7:00pm lock in when the US wakes up

We pass on 9/10 VAs who have experience working for cleaning companies. Most times they aren’t any good. This might sound crazy. But there are far more important things to look for when interviewing VAs for your cleaning company.

Walk into a mechanics bathroom and odds are you’ll see a sign. “PLEASE DON’T PEE ON THE SEAT” Why? People need direction. Same goes for your remote team on Slack. Assume nothing. Explain everything. Right down to how long it should take for them to respond to a message.

Every company building a team with global hires should have a dedicated “WINS” channel in Slack. - completed tasks - problem solving - took initiative - client praise Shout them out publicly for everybody to see. Build a winning culture.

Easy to follow SOPs (Text + video) Good Job Library (Gold standard of recurring tasks in completed state) This gives global hires the direction needed to complete a task, and something to compare their work to, to see if it meets the companies gold standard.

The “Team Zoom” method for global teams is gaining traction. It’s an interesting management style. I have mixed feelings, but certainly see how it could be effective. Mentioning this during the interview phase would go a long way for clarity. Prevent day one ship jumpers.

Followed the advice of Connor Showler | SEO & Marketing Master using long tail keywords as headlines on IG with problem/solution format. A few of the posts did indeed end up on the first page. Returns seem to diminish without continued posting.

If I could repeat the first two weeks of January 23 more times, this could be a heck of a year. It feels like a lucky start, but it’s really just the preparation from the last few months paying off. Godspeed.

It feels easy and accommodating to communicate passively in business. Sabai, Sabai. But the reality is you need to be able to frame, control, then accommodate for the sake of both your clients and your business. Something I'm working hard on right now.

The thing about being a digital nomad is this... It turns into a never ending journey of searching for the best country/location. Then you realize there is no perfect place and slow down. I've simplified it to simply following the sun in a handful of my favourite spots.

Sleeper digital nomad spot? Kuala Lumpur. Never a long stay for me, but KL stays on my rotation list. First time I realized I was poor, was my first trip to KL back in 2024. Big Chinese $$$ Most people show you the towers, but China Town is one of the more interesting spots.
