I have the feeling that comments on preprints are very rare but are there any data on this? Any references are welcome.

There is a common belief that commentary papers don't get cited + aren't worth writing.

But the data says otherwise!

Commentaries published in Association for Psychological Science tend to attract 25% as many citations as their target article. Some are cited even more than the original!

'Based on the survey, we consider the experiment with preprinting and open peer review at the STI 2023 conference to be successful. While some survey respondents are critical, a large majority of the respondents are positive.'

New preprint! How often do editors/reviewers actually compare preregistrations to the reporting in the article? Almost never. This figure sums up all of the results. Not good.

🧐 Key finding: For articles submitted since June 2019 (after a policy change making replication packages mandatory), 95% could be fully or largely computationally reproduced when data access and software requirements were met.

Have you ever deviated from a preregistration and wondered what to do next? Recent research suggests that preregistration deviations are common, but underreported. In a forthcoming AMPPS paper, Olivia E. Atherton, PhD and I propose a simple solution. osf.io/preprints/psya…
