Almost every administrative structure in college sports is held together with duct tape and string. I don't think there is a long-term right now. It's built to survive for the next three years. Beyond that, like everything else...who knows?

I think the best rivalries are the ones where the two schools are very close together, are more similar than they'd ever want to admit, have some political/class component AND are rarely have national title implications. egg bowl, holy war, Cal/Stanford, etc etc
