Earl Hamner, creator & narrator of The Waltons, would’ve been 100 today. The photo on the left is Earl with Richard Thomas, who played his younger self on TV; the one on the right is with me in the kitchen of his original family home in Schuyler VA (2014). Earl passed in 2016.

Happy Moon Landing Day Even though it’s not true, I love this story about what Neil Armstrong was rumoured to have uttered as he made his small step/giant leap. Also love the Sleeper song written by Louise Wener snopes.com/fact-check/goo…

We’ve had a new digital test chart installed in my contact lens room today. Downside is that I’ve had to relocate my #MontyPython clock, and we also need redecorating.

This morning’s porridge tasted particularly sweet knowing that Jon Richardson agrees that putting the bowl in to soak is the right thing to do.

Dad’s first factory was on the first floor of this building on Thomas Street in #Manchester He manufactured rainwear for Pakamac from here during the 1960s. I wonder what Dad would’ve made of CHANEL taking over Thomas Street yesterday evening for their prestigious fashion show.

Love the bold, black frames, Tim Lovejoy but I get the feeling you’re not a fan of glasses - have you ever tried multifocal contact lenses? #gamechanger

We had our Lions Clubs British Isles bin emptied yesterday - of the 2481 pairs of glasses donated locally last year, 734 were from our Rawtenstall practice and another 491 pairs were donated in Haslingden. Thank you to everyone who has helped us to help this great cause. #recycling

With the Sgt Pepper album nearly complete, Paul McCartney flew to the USA to surprise Jane Asher, who was in a touring production of Romeo And Juliet. This photo was allegedly taken on April 3rd 1967, but how can that be when Paul is clearly travelling with Richard Osman ?

This is my Dad’s ticket stub from the World Cup Final in 1966. Dad went to the game with his friend, Harry, who passed away earlier this week, at the age of 92. Harry’s passing has made me wonder how few of the 96,924 that were there at Wembley might still be with us. #England

Just listening back to yesterday’s Mystery Hour with James O'Brien and an interesting question about being a millionaire in different currencies came up, and it reminded me of Kirsty MacColls’s fabulous lyric, “Just give me 50,000 Lira for my thoughts”.
