First pub from my lab is out on Molecular Ecology! We analyzed the genetic load on two high quality phased genomes of the critically endangered Chinese Bahaba and simulated load purging in captivity. Artificial selection needed for rescue. doi.org/10.1111/mec.17…

Preprint out now! So grateful for the guidance and mentorship of profs Robert W. Williams Rupert Overall and team members Dennis de Bakker @DowGlikman Alicia Gomez-Pascual TQ for teaching me so much, from navigating GeneNetwork to running eQTLs - I've learned so much from you all 🙏

Field research in the Gonarezhou National park-studying turquoise killifish in their natural environment. Lots of science fun with the lab and lots of flies flying all around us-nothing attracts them more than our ethanol bottles. Congratulations to the Lifelong VISION consortium for receiving a Gravitation grant! In this partnership, scientists will join forces to find new solutions for blindness. The group of Jeroen Bakkers contributes by studying retinal regeneration in zebrafish: hubrecht.eu/gravitation-ba…

The ultimate sacrifice? 🔥Amazing work Nature Aging by Tehila and Eitan, demonstrating that the germline regulates vertebrate longevity and somatic repair! A fun collaboration with Sagiv Shifman, William J. Greenleaf, Oren Ram & Ehud Cohen! Follow & retweet!! nature.com/articles/s4358…

First a preprint, now officially published in Aging Cell. Find out more on "Age-related dysregulation of the retinal transcriptome in African turquoise killifish" by clicking the link below: doi.org/10.1111/acel.1…

Take a look at our new article Nature Cardiovascular Research looking at Regenerative Senescence in Cardiac Repair. nature.com/articles/s4416…

From specialized non-glial progenitors to mature neurons . We have mapped the adult and aged female killifish telencephalon🐟 using single-cell sequencing. Age-related changes? Check out our paper: 👉 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ac…🔥🔥🔥 great collab with SeuntjensLab @EveSeuntjens

I am incredibly happy to share our work on the evolution of sperm length in tetrapods, published in Nature Communications. “[…] How does sperm morphology co-vary with body size, or genome size?” (Matt Gage, 2021). nature.com/articles/s4146… @KocillariLoren @PilastroAndrea

In a new preprint from my lab Leibniz-Institut für Alternsforschung (FLI) we found that polyamines sustain the regeneration of the intestinal epithelium in old mice 👇biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Thrilled to share our work on gut microbes and brain aging in turquoise killifish at the Aging Microbiota Conference 2024! Honored to receive the Poster Prize—thank you! 🏆 Exciting times for the emerging field of Microbes and Aging! #AgingResearch Balance of the Microverse Leibniz-Institut für Alternsforschung (FLI)

🫀 Zebrafish protein unlocks dormant genes for mammalian heart repair. Work by @Bouwman @deBakker et al published in Nature Cardiovascular Research uncovers how the protein HMGA1 could unlock mammalian heart repair. rdcu.be/d5owa #HeartHealth #Regeneration #Biomedicine #Cardiology
